  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 3-4 tablespoons ice water

For the Filling:

  • 6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons apricot jam for glazing
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving

  2. Chill dough: Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Roll pastry: Roll dough into a 12-inch circle and transfer to a 9-inch tart pan. Trim edges and prick bottom with a fork.
  4. Prepare apples: Peel and core apples, then slice into thin, even pieces. Toss with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Arrange apples: Arrange apple slices in overlapping concentric circles on the pastry, starting from the outside edge.
  6. Add butter: Brush arranged apples with melted butter and sprinkle with any remaining sugar mixture.
  7. Bake: Bake at 375°F for 30-35 minutes until pastry is golden and apples are tender and caramelized.
  8. Glaze and serve: Warm apricot jam and brush over hot tart. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

  • Slice apples uniformly for even cooking
  • Arrange apples in tight, overlapping circles
  • Brush with jam while tart is still warm
  • Granny Smith apples hold their shape best
